It uses well-known, simplified astronomical formulas (not Swiss-Ephemeris-grade). This is accurate enough for correct sign-level placement in the large majority of cases, but placements within roughly half a degree of a sign or nakshatra boundary should be treated as indicative, not certain. The ascendant (Lagna) changes roughly every two hours and anchors your entire chart. Even a 15–20 minute error in birth time can shift house placements, so accuracy here matters more than any other input.
